Action Mechanism

Generic Celebrex works in a step wise pattern to show the quick effect. Inhibition of the enzyme COX-2 is the primary function of this drug. COX-2 enzyme promotes the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that is responsible for arthritis inflammation. This medication contains Celecoxib as the principal component, which works by reducing the production of pro-inflammatory hormones that cause inflammation. It is found to be working effectively in women to lessen the menstruation pain by reducing the pro-inflammatory hormones. It works effectively in treatment of osteoarthritis in hip and knee joints. The usage of this drug gives you a quick relief from pain.

Dosage

The dosage of generic Celebrex is different for various conditions. In osteoarthritis prescribed dosage of this medication is 200mg per day.
You can take entire dosage of 200mg of this medication at once or the dosage can be split in 2 doses of 100 mg each.
The prescribed dosage in rheumatoid arthritis is 100 to 200 mg twice in a day.
The dosage is 200mg once or twice in a day for the patients suffering from Ankylosing Spondylitis.
It can be taken as 400 mg twice in a day for the individuals having primary Dysmenorrhea and Acute Pain. Dosage of this pain relief drug can be increased up to 600 mg in cases of severe acute pain.
It should not be taken on an empty stomach. Dosage of this drug is always recommended with food or milk.
Subsequent doses of generic Celebrex should have a mandatory beak of at least 10 hours between them as it takes approximately 10 hours to get completely eliminated from the body.
Don’t increase the dosage of this drug to more than 400 mg in a day because it can cause severe complications to your health

NOTE: Over dose of this medication can cause lethargy, vomiting, weakness, drowsiness, nausea, acute renal failure, and epigastric pain. Continuous over dose can result into respiratory depression and coma.

Precautions

Generic Celebrex should be kept out of reach of children.
Please consult with your doctor before starting this medication. If you have a history of stomach ulcers, bleeding in liver, suffering from kidney disease, history of heart attack, stroke, blood clotting issues or a seizure disorder such as epilepsy then it’s best to consult with your doctor to check if you could consume this medication.
Pregnant or breast feeding women should avoid taking this medication because it could cause potential harm to the fetus or the new born baby.
People taking the drugs which include sulfonamides should not take this medication.
Elderly patients should take generic Celebrex with caution because it may cause stomach bleeding and kidney problems.
Avoid drinking alcohol when on this medication because alcohol intake increases the risk of stomach bleeding.

NOTE: The abovementioned side effects may be temporary. Blood while coughing or vomiting, is another side effect observed in 1% individuals using this medication. This medication showed swelling or rapid weight gain among some people. Intake of this medication had lead to infrequent urination in few cases. Heart attack and stroke are the serious side effects observed among the people who had taken the excessive dosage of this drug without informing the doctor.

Warnings

Individuals taking Fluconazole, Cyclosporine, lithium, and methotrexate must consult a doctor before starting the dosage of generic Celebrex
Never take this medication excessively because this result in addiction and you may face serious side effects.
Individuals who are suffering with seizures should consult the doctor before taking this drug. Dose adjustment might be needed for these individuals.
