Action Mechanism

Endogenous estrogens containing Premarin Cream is largely responsible for the development as well as maintenance of the reproductive system and secondary sexual characteristics in females.

Although circulating estrogens do exist in a dynamic equilibrium, estradiol is an estrogen, a female sexual hormones, which is substantially more potent than its metabolites, estrone, and estriol, at the receptor level.

Dosage

  • Read the patient information leaflet carefully before you start using Premarin Cream. If you have any questions on how to use this product, ask your physician.
  • Use this local application cream as directed by your physician. Fill the applicator with the medicated cream according to the instructions.
  • Insert the applicator deep into the vagina and then press the plunger to discharge the cream.
  • Make sure you clean the applicator with warm water and rinse it well. Do not use hot water or boil to clean the applicator.
  • Use Premarin Cream regularly to get the most out of it. Follow the dosing schedule carefully.
  • Do not increase your dosage or use excess medication for a longer duration than advised.
  • Tell your physician if your condition worsens or does not improve.

Precautions

  • Before using Premarin Cream, inform your physician whether you are allergic to any medications, including conjugated estrogens.
  • This product may contain some inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other issues. Talk to your physician for more details.
  • Prior to using this cream, tell your physician if you have any medical condition, such as unexplained vaginal bleeding, certain cancers, blood clots, stroke, heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.
  • Do not smoke or use tobacco while using Premarin Cream. Conjugated estrogens combined with smoking can increase your risk of blood clots, high blood pressure, especially in women above 35 years of age.

Warnings

  • Premarin Cream may cause dark, blotchy areas on your face and skin. Sunlight may worsen this side effect. So. limit your time in the sun. Avoid tanning booths or sunlamps. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when you go outdoors.
  • This cream may contain mineral oil that can weaken rubber products such as cervical caps, latex condoms, and diaphragms, leading to their failure. Consult your physician if you are unsure if Premarin contains mineral oil.
  • This cream must not be used during pregnancy. Also, if you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, immediately stop applying the cream and seek medical help.
  • Premarin cream can pass into breast milk. The cream may reduce the amount and quality of breast milk produced. Seek medical advice in advance before you breast-feed.
