Description
Generic Valtrex is a medicine used for the treatment of infections strongly suspected to be caused by certain types of viruses. In children, the drug is prescribed to treat cold sores caused by herpes simplex and chickenpox caused by varicella zoster. In adults, the medicine is used for treating shingles caused by herpes zoster and cold sores in mouth. It is also used to treat outbreaks of herpes genitals in adults.
Generic Valtrex contains Valacyclovir, which is an antiviral drug. Valacyclovir is a prodrug, which is converted into Aciclovir when administered in the body. Apart from treating viral infections, this drug decreases the complexity and duration of the viral outbreaks. It helps the sores caused by viruses heal faster, preventing new sores from developing and decreasing pain or itching.
