Action Mechanism
Naltima is one of the opioid antagonists, which works by blocking the effects of opioids and alcohol. It inhibits the feeling of high that one may experience when there are on alcohol or opiates. In addition, the drug prevents the desire of drinking alcohol and taking opioid painkillers. The exact mechanism in treating alcohol addiction is unknown, but it is presumed that has an action on the endogenous opioid system Opioid antagonists, including Naltima, have been found to decrease alcohol intake in animal and human studies.
